Don’t forget to check out the On Story Lounge, held in the Driskill Hotel’s Jim Hogg Parlor, featuring content from the On Story Project while offering a space for writers to meet, mingle, and relax!

Known as the “Writers Festival,” Austin Film Festival recognizes the writer as the core of the creative process in filmmaking. On Story® is a natural progression of that mission and offers an organic, multi-platform initiative dedicated to this process through the eyes of some of the entertainment industry’s most prolific writers, directors, and producers.

For 21 years, Austin Film Festival has brought together the film and television industry’s most recognized screenwriters and filmmakers, including luminaries like Wes Anderson, Caroline Thompson, Oliver Stone, Johnny Depp, Ron Howard, Jason Reitman, James Franco, Jonathan Demme, Paul Thomas Anderson, Mike Judge, Shane Black, Callie Khouri, Damon Lindelof, Larry Wilmore, Greg Daniels, Sydney Pollack, and more.

Their passionate and in-depth conversations on the art and craft of storytelling have entertained thousands of Festival registrants over the years. Since Austin Film Festival’s launch, hundreds of these invaluably rich and informative discussions have been recorded and archived; AFF is thrilled to make these available to the public through the On Story Project. What inspired such instant classics as Schindler’s List, Apollo 13, Toy Story, Unforgiven, Slumdog Millionaire, Thelma and Louise, The Silence of the Lambs, Breaking Bad, Lost, and more? On Story gets to the heart of the matter and presents the stories behind the storytellers, revealing the real magic of movies.
