Uri Fleming is a partner at the boutique entertainment firm Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo LLP. Uri represents authors, actors, writers, directors, producers, production companies, studios and other entities in a wide variety of matters related to all facets in the development, production and distribution of motion pictures, television programs, new-media productions and other creative content.Mr. Fleming has worked on and closed some of the past decade’s biggest deals, such as the sale of DreamWorks SKG to Paramount Pictures and the subsequent sale of the DreamWorks library to Dune/Soros. Recently, led by Ken Kleinberg, and in tandem with literary agent Neil Blair, he represented J. K. Rowling in the comprehensive expansion of Ms. Rowling’s deal with Warner Bros., including producer and writing deals for a new potential trilogy based on Ms. Rowling’s novella Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Ms. Rowling’s role and compensation in connection with the various Harry Potter theme park attractions. Led by Bob Lange, Mr. Fleming represented Leslie Greif in ITV’s $30 million acquisition of Greif’s ThinkFactory Media, Inc. (Emmy-Award winning Hatfields and McCoys, Gene Simmons Family Jewels; TVOne’s R&B Divas; and Lifetime’s Preacher’s Daughters), and continues to represent ThinkFactory Media, most recently in connection with a new, eight hour mini-series epic event Texas Rising featuring Bill Paxton, Brendan Fraser and Ray Liotta, among the 100+ speaking parts. He also represents Intuitive Entertainment (Millionaire Matchmaker, Pit Boss), Authentic Entertainment (Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Flipping Out) and 2C Media (Airport 24/7:MIA, Swamp Wars) and other producers and companies in connection with a wide variety of scripted and unscripted television and online projects.He represented Chernin Entertainment in connection with the production of the groundbreaking social media program Summer Break, and has represented executives at Mark Burnett Productions/One Three Television and Discovery Communications. In addition, Mr. Fleming represents CDC International in connection with a multi-picture licensing deal with Disney for distribution of motion pictures in Latin America, and Content & Co. in the development and production of original branded content, such as Clean Break  and 4 to 9ers, across multiple platforms. He also, along with Candace Carlo, represents Marza Animation Planet in a variety of matters, including a co-production with Sony of a Sonic the Hedgehog motion picture.Mr. Fleming was named a 2013 Up Next Dealmaker by Variety, and in 2011 was named a Rising Star by Southern California Super Lawyers. He is a co-chair of the syllabus committee of the USC Law School Entertainment Symposium, serves on the syllabus committee of the UCLA Entertainment Symposium, and served on the planning committee for the annual Bet Tzedek Justice Ball.Prior to joining KLCC, Mr. Fleming was an associate at Irell & Manella’s entertainment transactions practice group, where he represented studios, networks, production companies and talent in various transactions. Before law school, he was manager of business and legal affairs at a motion picture completion bond company, where he negotiated, drafted and reviewed agreements related to the underwriting, production and distribution of over thirty independent motion pictures with budgets up to $50 million.Mr. Fleming earned his J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class; received the Peter Knecht Memorial Award for contract, copyright, and entertainment law; and was the Managing Editor of the Southern California Law Review. He also has an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business.
