MIKE BINDER (Director, Writer) is an award winning actor, writer, director and producer who began his career as a standup comedian. Binder’s first screenplay, Coup de Ville, caught the attention of Joe Roth, who helmed the film for Universal, which soon led to another feature, Crossing the Bridge, which marked Binder’s directorial debut. His next feature was Indian Summer, inspired by the summer camp he went to as a youth. Mike’s early work as a comedian included his own HBO special, HBO’s Detroit Comedy Jam, and The Eleventh Anniversary of the Comedy Store, with Robin Williams, Richard Pryor and Jim Carrey.Binder created, wrote and starred in the HBO series The Mind of the Married Man. Films that Binder has directed, written and appeared in include The Upside of Anger, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2005 and starred Kevin Costner, Man About Town, starring Ben Affleck and Rebecca Romjin, and Reign Over Me with Adam Sandler. Other features include The Search for John Gissing, which won the Critic’s Choice Award at the Sarasota Film Festival, Londinium with Stephen Fry and Colin Firth, and The Sex Monster, for which Binder received both the Best Film and Actor nods from the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen.As an actor, he was featured in Steven Spielberg's Minority Report, Rod Lurie's The Contender, and Rebecca Miller’s The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. He is currently writing on the hit CBS series Mom.
